Beer Kit recommendations

Post by twopan » Wed Mar 03, 2010 3:03 pm

This is a great forum! I have posted twice and had loads of useful responses. So, here's a thought. I have had two gos at kit brewing. First was a Geordie bitter kit which was the tea-addition incident which some may have read about here. Tasted rubbish and I have sampled other Geordie which was so-so. I have just barrelled a Woodforde's Wherry which I tested after a few days in the barrel to see what it was like. I have to say it's worlds apart from the Geordie and is actually tasting like real beer. It promises to be really good in a couple of weeks.

So, I would like to try another kit that is as good. I know if I ask for suggestions I may be innundated, but my favourite beers are Timmy Taylor's Landlord and Marston's Pedigree. Can anyone suggest a bitter kit to try next, that would be like one of those? :?: There isa bewildering array of kits on the market. How about Milestone for example? I have also lurked on the additions to beer kits thread but I'd ilke to perfect a basic kit first before trying clever stuff. Thanks.

Three i have enjoyed are Milestones YE OLD HOME WRECKER and Brupaks COLNE VALLEY BITTER also the Woodforde's ADMIRALS RESERVE. Most of the two can kits are good. Happy brewing TT.

Hi!

Although its slightly off topic... EDME superbrew gold is a good 'basic bitter' kit to experiment with... But as you say its best to get the basics right before messing about too much...

I have a Milestone Lions Pride 2 can kit on the 'to do' list.... But I've no idea what its like...
TT what did you thin to this kit when you did it?

Would it benfit from any 'additions'?

Cheers!
