Hi guys
Just inherited a random can of 1.8kg Medium Malt Extract in a can and some beer enhancer. Since i really only do AG now im trying to find a fun way to use these up.
I was thinking of getting a cheap bitter kit, adding both and trying to make some barley wine.
Will the combination of: Geordie Kit + 1.8kg Malt Extract in a can + Beer enhancer give me desired effect or just be a nasty mess?
Cheers \o/

keep them to make starters, crash cool and pour off the beer then just pitch the slurry.
Re: Malt Extract in a can?
Yeah, why not? You can pour off what you need into a ziploc bag and then put the lot in the freezer.Hoppkins wrote:Use the can of malt for starters?
I have a 25KG box of malt from my extract days and all I use it for now it starters. I make all-grain, and I still need something to make starters from. How would you make your yeast starters otherwise? Or do you use dried yeast all the time?
I've started harvesting my yeast cakes and keep them in jars in the fridge, which is good for a few months at least and then when I need new yeast I make a starter using a few spoons of the stuff from the fridge and some malt extract.
When I want to use it I cold crash to drop all the yeast out, then pour the beer of the top and pitch the yeast slurry....
