Geordie can opened and looked emulsified.

I normally go for the Geordie Yorkie bitter, but for a change this week picked up the Geordie non yorkie bitter. Shouldn't be much diff. Got everything up and running, opened the can to find it had a form of scum on the top. It looked emulsified.
Under the top 2cm all looked normal, so being as the shops had closed decided to plug on.
It needed a lot more sloshing about than normal as it seemed to be clumping a bit but a bit of elbow grease eventually got rid of it.
One medium spraymalt well stirred in and now it seems to be producing a head and gas normally.
The kit had a 2011 expirey date on it so that shouldn't be a prob and there were no signs of damage, or leaks to the can.

I just haven't seen this crudge on the top of the malt before. Will report back on the outcome.

Bottoms up! :D

Hi,

Can't be sure that its the same but I sometimes get what sounds like this with extract cans if I've stood them in hotter water than normal before opening. Is that a possibility? Its never made any difference that I can tell.

Cheers

Could be. Maybe it's heating the water content of the extract and producing the emulse.
It seems to be brewing OK. It just looked a bit strange.
Thanks for the reply.
