Too Late To Bottle?

Post by grofus » Thu Sep 30, 2010 10:50 am

Hi all, On my fourth kit. A Coopers Ausie Bitter. Came out of the FV stunningly clear into a keg. :D Tasted it after a few days, I really think its better bottled to get the fizz. Is there a way to do this. I did bottle some but it hasn't seemed to have primed. i wonder if there was not enough active yeast left. Any ideas ! Thanks :!:

There should be enough live yeast in suspension to convert any additional sugars you add to prime the beer in bottles.

Did you add priming sugar to the one you bottled?

Always bottle lagers mate. You won't ge enough fizz using barrels for them.

Hi,

you can still bottle from the keg - however you will need to re prime and allow time for the pressure and any disolved CO2 in the PB to escape before doing so.

I have a batch of AG Porter in my PB 'conditioning' prior to bottling - the brew is almost bright but there will be enough yeast in suspension to re start secondary in my primed bottles...

I did this as I found it helped my extract brew clear in the bottle and reduced the amount of sediment in the bottle - however leaving a kit brew in the FV or PB for a few extra days has the saem net effect.

Hope that helps...

Thanks for the replies. I just can't get over how clear it came out of the FV. It looks done. I'll Bottle it tomorrow.
Cheers

PS forgot to say I did prime the bottles, but no fizz yet after 3 days. Bottles still soft. Thats why I wondered about the yeast being all gone with it being so clear already. :?
