Candi sugar?
Candi sugar?
I have seen for sale on several home brew web sites, candi sugar and dark candi sugar, can anyone enlighten me as to what it actually is please?
Re: Candi sugar?
It is used as an addition to your beer to raise the OG. Generally in Belgian style beers.

Re: Candi sugar?
Hi,
It is used in Belgian style ales to rasie the alchol level whilst keeping the beer relitivly light...
The darker the candi sugar the more flavor (& colour) it will add to the beer.
Unless you are making a Belgian style its worth sticking to a DME & or sugar
I used it in a Brewferm Ambiorox kit with some sucess - one of my fav kit brews if a bit strong at 6.5%
Hope that helps...
