My First Bottled Batch!

Post by Stomach » Sun Oct 03, 2010 7:01 pm

Well my Coopers IPA with 1.5kg of Light Malt Extract and 500g of medum spraymalt has been bottled, left in the warm for a week, cleared nicely and been in the cold for a day or two.

I know it tastes better with age, but so far (5 bottles to be precise) its tastes pretty good!!

Just thought I would share!!

<I feel a little bit affected as well!! =D> >

Fermenting:-
FV 1 - Festival Spiced Winter Ale
FV 2 - Empty
FV 3 - Empty
FV 4 - Ditches Stout

Drinking:-
Keg 1 - Nothing

Conditioning:-

Bottles - Brewferm Winter Ale
Bottles - Brewferm Triple

Next
Work in progress
Old Tin of Coopers Cerveza
Couple of old tins of stuff to experiment with!

It'll be all gone in a fortnight then. Better get another brew on.

I'm just awaiting delivery of a Coopers IPA kit which I'm hoping to put down this week. Can you tell me if it is very hoppy as I'm thinking of adding a Brupaks flavapak to mine, but if it's hoppy enough without I'll leave it out and use it on another brew.
What is the ABV of yours, I'm thinking of using 500g DME and maybe 250g dextrose or honey in order to make an IPA with an ABV around 4.3%

Well I got an OG of 1050, and an FG of 1010 after two weeks in ther fermenter (due to new baby and lack of time to bottle before this) so by calculation its an ABV of 5.3% - A bit of a surprise but I am new and presume the feremntables made it stronger than I expected!

I think its quite bitter and hoppy, but its only been in the cold a few days now. Its a nice beer and will be brewed again!!
