Brew belt positions

I have got a brew belt on my Fv,positioned at the 10 litre mark.Is this the correct position for maximum heat output?

Position I've always favoured for those things is thrown as far away from me as I can. This is why I use a proper, thermostatically controlled fish tank heater. It takes the witchcraft and guess work out of it

If I remember rightly, the lower down the belt is, the more it heats up, down to about 2ins from the bottom. Ditch is right in that you can't just turn it on and forget about it, you have to keep a careful eye on the temperature.
