St Peters ruby red

Post by rsr » Mon Sep 05, 2011 12:09 pm

I've just bottled a St Peters ruby red around a week ago, it was my first 3kg kit and was in the FV for 3 weeks and only reached 1014 for the FG. I had a sneaky taste over the weekend to see how it was. It was still quite cloudy but am hoping it will clear over time, the taste though I'm not sure about. It tasted a bit like a wheat beer, the box says it should smell hoppy (which it kind of does) but it doesn't taste spicy at all. I'll drink it anyway but should it taste whaty? :?:
Cheers

I had that taste once with a Wherry! The good folk on here advised it was yeast still in suspension which as the beer was still cloudy made sense. It took 10 weeks (queue jokes again) to filly clear and lose the wheat beer taste. Mine was kegged though, so yours should be much quicker.

I would get another few brews on the go and leave that one to do its thing.

PS Woodfordes and St Peters are both made by Muntons!

Cheers

My St Peter's golden was clear in a little over a week and the ruby didn't take much longer, I wasn't massively impressed with the ruby however, twas a little boring for my taste, oh and I did get the 1.020 stick with it :(

Just tried one of the bottles, all cleared and a lovely taste not of wheat! Might just have to have a couple more :)
Thanks for the advice.
