2 good brews at 3 weeks!!

Post by Monkeybrew » Wed Sep 07, 2011 10:25 pm

While I was bottling my Christmas brew tonight, I thought that I should try a couple of pints of 3 week old brews

The first pint was my Coopers APA, made with 500g of Light DME, dry hopped with 40g of Cascade and brewed to 20L. This brew is kegged and is perfectly clear with a lovely white creamy head. It is very light in flavour, but will make a great session beer as it was kegged at 3.8% ABV.

The second pint was my St Peters IPA, that was brewed totally standard with the included hop powder sachet and the kit yeast. This brew is bottled and is also totally clear and tastes amazing! You get toffee / caramel flavours, then a subtle hop flavour with a nice soft bitterness that lingers nicely if that makes sense. What a stunning kit, that can only improve even more over the next few weeks. As you can see from this picture I have slightly over-primed it at 5g per litre, but the beer isn't fizzy and retains it's head until the end. It was bottled at 5.1% ABV. =D> =D> =D>

=D> lovely stuff!!

I cracked open my first bottle (well, bottles) of APA with Amarillo. It's a lovely drop though it's picked up a lot of haze which I presume is from the extensive dry-hopping. Some serious citrus flavour from it.

I am already planning an Amarillo APA in my head for next summer in bottles, maybe with 1kg of DME and 100g of hops.

Amarillo is the nads IMO!!

Thats fine, there are no rules about what time you can have a drink in an airport, they are bit like Vegas Casino's :=P
