I did the irish stout a couple of years ago, used 1 kilo of medium spraymalt, turned out pretty good as far as I can remember.

I prefer Edme Stout to Coopers but it's a slow burner ie it matures more slowly. I bottled 40 pints on 14th February and I shall leave the majority for two months before drinking. I have tried a pint or two for quality control purposes and so far, so good.

I think the main difference between the two kits is that Edme is drier whereas Coopers has a richer taste.

I would agree the EDME is a slow burner. It's not a good pint until it's had around 10-12 weeks to condition.

I'm drinking some now. Lovely stuff. Only three weeks in the barrel, but fine nonetheless.

yup,
supping one during most euro2012.

i did mine with 1kg dark spraymalt added. although its a very nice pint. i think i`ll do the same with 1kg glucose,500g spraymalt next time.
i`m still kinda new to this brewing. my previous batch was john bull stout, which was ok.

Just finishing a four month-old batch and it's very pleasant. Very slightly sweet. Poured some of it into the beef carbonade I'm cooking tonight for tomorrow's tea.
