OK....
just that miniute bulk primed my latest brew in my bottling bucket (Scottish Export, not that it matters lol) I bulk primed with 100g sugar and set away the syphon, there was a lot of sediment transfered to my bottling bin after a few re starts near the bottom and also some pretty big chuncks of sediment I saw flying through the tube.
So... Im going to have to leave maybe another day for it to settle, but having already primed will this matter? Last time I primed and bottled straight away, so will leaving another 24-48 hours effect the carbination when I finally do bottle bearing in mind the top on the bucket is just loose.
Cheers
Just ballsed up racking/bulk prime
Re: Just ballsed up racking/bulk prime
Well the yeastys will say yum yum and start on the priming sugar. Leave it for a day then bottle - I wouldn't add any more sugar.
It should be fine. Keep it in the bottle somewhere warm for a week and then move to a cold place as usual.
IMHO.

Re: Just ballsed up racking/bulk prime
Cheers, a lot of it is the brown stuff that floats on top, is that sediment or spent yeast or something. Only my second brew and the first time I used finnings after 14 days in primary then left 48 hours before racking/bulk priming and had nothing left floating. Think I may go that route again next time.
I could see the floaties getting sucked towards the racking cane as I was syphoning then getting sucked up lol
Cheers

Re: Just ballsed up racking/bulk prime
Sediment ends up at the bottom of the beer!!!
Don't sweat it - bottle it and leave it alone. After a few weeks it will drop out and you'll have some great beer. Possibly!!!

Just bottle it now.
After 6-8 weeks it will be ready and all the sediment will have settled at the bottom of the bottle.

Re: Just ballsed up racking/bulk prime
I've done this, the first step is not to panic
Though you've added sugar, secondary fermentation wont start immediately unless you've bottled an active beer - the yeast left in the brew is dormant and takes a day, up to a week before it re-activates and starts to eat the priming sugar. Its also dependant on temperature and ABV (cold yeasties are more sluggish still and at high ABV, they're tired - my 10.1% TC took a full 3 weeks at 20 degrees before ANY signs of carbonation appeared !)
When I did what you did, I just sealed my bottling bucket and let it settle for 3 hours, then just bottled as normal - what little sediment came across had dropped by then. Needless to say, the brew came out fine

Re: Just ballsed up racking/bulk prime
Well I haven't sealed it tight just got the lid lying on top, but there's deffinatley activity. Top is covered in the fine white bublles which is what I presume is from the co2 or whatever. Looks like a very thin head lol
Should I snaP he lid on tight? Can't bottle now until at least tommorow, really not in a state to be stererlising and rinsing bottles
But what is the brown stuff that floats on the top, normaly loads during primary is it old dead yeast or something.
Cheers

Re: Just ballsed up racking/bulk prime
Im thinking your brew wasn't quite finished when you started to bottle when if its woken up that quickly. leave the lid loose and in this case, id consider half a tsp in each bottle (or equivilent re-batch prime) when it come bottle it if its going to be a few days.
Extra sugar will just add a little abv
