low OG on a coopers APA?

Post by paulyp » Sat Jun 23, 2012 5:32 pm

Brewed the kit I got for my Bday (thanks sis) as I normally would using the coopers bke 2 like it says to, atm I've short brewed to 20 liters and it is still a little warm to pitch the yeast (about 28) but on checking the OG it seems to be a bit low, unless I'm reading wrong?

Yeah, looks very low, Ive literally just taken a FG for mine, set it away 2 weeks ago tommorow and it was 1045 I used jars of malt and honey though. But yeah should deffinatley be a lot higher.

Either that or its ready already, super fast beer

Cheers

Have you fully mixed everything in? Also, you say troop is too high, that would mean your of is higher than it actually would be. Makes me think you didn't actually mix everything properly

Right I noticed what looked like trub in the bottom of the fv so I stirred it up and the OG went up to 1048 so all's good :D thought it was all stirred up nicely but I did leave it a while for the foam to settle before taking a reading so that might explain.
