What Two Tin Kit Next?

Post by dave67 » Wed Jul 11, 2012 10:59 pm

I've just finished fermenting my st peters ruby red ale.

I'm after suggestions for my next kit. I prefer a two tin kit as they seem to be the best option. I'm thinking of maybe an IPA but interested to know if there are any good kits anyone has tried

Hi Dave

I'm currently enjoying Brupaks' India Pale Ale from my keg, it's got a nice hop flavour with a good balance of bitterness, without being overpowering. It was pretty good from 4 weeks in the keg IMO.

The St Peter's IPA is also good, but is very bitter and takes longer to condition, so suits bottles rather than kegs IMO. I think that the supplied hop powder sachet is the culprit and I certainly won't be using it in my Ruby Red that's waiting for it's turn in the FV.

FV:

Conditioning:
AG#41 - Vienna Lager - 5.6%
AG#42 - Heritage Double Ale - 10.5%

On Tap:
AG#44 - Harvest ESB - 5.4%
AG#45 - Amarillo Gold APA - 5.2%

Woodfordes Sundew.
Fantastic summer brew.

Have to agree - St Peters Ruby can be extremely bitter if you use the hop powder. I used less than quarter of the packet this time.

Plus 1 to this! The Brupaks IPA is quite simply a superb pint!

I too wont be using the hop sachet in any St Peters from now on. Its make a drink very bitter. I have the IPA in bottles and after 6 months or so its till got a harsh initial taste!

Fermenting:-
FV 1 - Festival Spiced Winter Ale
FV 2 - Empty
FV 3 - Empty
FV 4 - Ditches Stout

Drinking:-
Keg 1 - Nothing

Conditioning:-

Bottles - Brewferm Winter Ale
Bottles - Brewferm Triple

Next
Work in progress
Old Tin of Coopers Cerveza
Couple of old tins of stuff to experiment with!

I've got some Goldings & Challenger hops lurking in the freezer, so will boil up 20g for 10mins of whichever one I choose, and make a hop tea for the Ruby Red.

Going back to the original question, Coopers IPA brewed to the 20L Authentic recipe always gets good reviews.
