Hi All
I put on a new beer last night - it's a Geordie Mild brewed with the Coopers APA yeast (a mixed ale and lager yeast) and a bunch of beer enhancer and a little extra sugar. I'm gonna dry hop with 30g each Chinook and Citra.
I'm hoping it'll come out with a sort of 'modern IPA' nose but with a a very different, tasty base. Or will it be filth? Your thoughts please!
The reasons for trying it were twofold!
1) I had spare APA yeast, citra and chinook, and I wanted to see if I could make a nice beer with really cheap ingredients
2) I recently made a fantastic Steam beer using Wherry malt as a base with Saflager and Citra. So I'm into this idea of trying alternative malts outside of their usual parameters, I suppose. Though Wherry might lend itself better to the idea, being a bitter.

Re: Mild/IPA Mashup
did something similar with a mix of geordie mild and youngs but post fermentation pre priming in two pb. dry hopped one with liberty one with pioneer. End result on both was ok did the job. Called it Igor 1 and 2.. made up of different bits! on hindsight would maybe have done as a two can job and used something like s33 yeast which i always get good results from
Just like trying new ideas!
