Simply in a bag
Simply in a bag
Hi All,
Just put a Ritchies simply brown ale on. The one in the plastic bag. Anyone else done one. I`m wondering if there`s anything you did to tart it up although I`m looking forward to tasting what it`s like from the bag.
Paul.

Re: Simply in a bag
I haven't done a Ritchies Simply kit but Ritchies I think make the Festival Kits that come with two bags of wort. If the single bag kits are anything like the standard of the two bag kits then your Brown Ale should turn out pretty good. What fermentable did you use with it ?

It's the first I've heard of these. Could some one let me know by link or checking a kit what temperature the lager requires for fermentation?
Many thank's.

Here's a link the the Brew UK web site page for the Simply kits, http://www.brewuk.co.uk/store/beerkits/simply-beer.html not a bad price could well be worth a punt. I sure if we ask nicely Paul will let us know what it turns out like - over to you Paul.cellone wrote:It's the first I've heard of these. Mixed it up with 1k of BKE and stuck it in the fridge set at 21. I`ll give it 10 days then as long as I can before trying it. I`ll let you know how it turns out.

Looking forward to your verdict Paul.
Cheers for that Wilf, at 17miles they're my LHBS. I will give them a call tomorrow and ask, might add it to my list next time I head that way.

Well, This ones had just over two weeks conditioning and I`ve had a few pints. It`s OK but nothing to write home about. It does have a lovely head on it that lasts well but there isn`t a lot of taste to it. The bit there is seems a bit hoppy for a brown.
This is all subjective and it may suit other peoples tastes better than mine. It is a lovely clear pint and looks good. Just not to my taste.

Re: Simply in a bag
I did a simply mild - it was ok, very light, and thinking back it too was nothing to write home about. Geordies mild was far superior. Good Test of a kit is how quickly its back on your shopping list, and this won't be making another appearance i'm afraid.
