40th pressie suggestions

Post by beer today » Thu Sep 27, 2012 10:01 pm

hi, my mates 40th is looming large and I'd like to buy him a kit, probably a Porter-esque style, with a bucket, spoon etc just to get him going, as he works hard and supports his 5 year old daughter unreservedly with her cystic fibrosis. As he is an all round good egg I'd like to seek your recommendations as I brew all grain, I dont have much kit experience.
so over to you guys, with thanks

If you're after a kit and not sure it'll get used much, have a nose round your nearest Wilko.
£10 Kit (Hoppy Copper works well)
£ 4 DME (or £6 Enhancer)
£ 8 Fermenting bin
= £22
... plus hyrometer, 100ml sample jar, thermometer, 2nd vessel ... etc
Also, 50 bottles from jbconline for just £20 + p&p

I had a look for jbconline and couldn't find it, but that price for all that gear looks very good if the postage doesn't ramp it up too much. Could you put up a link or send me a P.M.

Many thank's,
Nick.

Just make sure you don't type JCB, and do type JBC! They're a sister company of Croxons, the glass distributer. jbconline. Best price I could find anywhere for basic bottles (500ml, 62mm diameter, clear).
