Use kit yeast or another
About to start my first 'full sized' brew this weekend after a few successful 10L BruBox batches [excited!]
Probably going to do a BruPaks Pride of Yorkshire Birkby Bitter. Is the yeast that comes with those kits pretty good (I'd hope so TBH) or would I be better using a sachet of Safale 04 I've got as a standby?
I've seen a few comments about kit yeast being unreliable or not quite up to the task of an all malt brew. What do you think?

If you follow DaaBs Brupaks kit instructions:
http://www.18000feet.com/brupaks/my_met ... s_kits.htm
You wont go wrong and the yeast with Brupaks kits is fine though having spare yeast to hand is advisable.
When you make up the Muntons Kit I personaly would use the S04 and use the yeast that came with the kit as a yeast nutrient (boil in the water that you use to rehydrate the S04).

Never had any problems with a Brupacks yeast, think it will be fine.....As Prodigal2 says if it were a Muntons kit that's a diffrent story.....use Safeale with these
....... I've recycled my Muntons kit yeast and used it in Turbo Cider, seems ok in that
. I'm sticking with Brupacks from now on until I go AG......
I'm currently have on tap a Brupacks IPA and thier Lithwaite light, just finished their Brewers choice best bitter made with spraymalt, which IMO is FANTASTIC!! so good I've made another which is sat in secondary. These all went without a hitch.
Cheers

Well its done. Used the BruPaks yeast prepared the Daabs way (as also recommended by the kit instructions). It frothed up nicely after 30 mins and is now chomping its way through 23L of wort!

Well 7 days on and after keeping the temperature between 19C and 21C its still in the primary.
OG was 1042 but it seems to have stuck at 1016 for the last 2 days. Gave it a rouse last night and just checked but no change. Guess I'll have another look tomorrow.
If no progress from there what are my best options? I've got some Youngs Yeats Nutrient, Brupaks Dry Beer Enzyme and a couple of sachets of Safale S-04 to hand.

Leave it for a couple of days and see what happens. If it is still stable .....Bottle.
Hydrometers can be off a couple of points, pitching yeast will probably do no good at that reading as there is not enough viable sugars to start a proper reaction.
I would wait and see, or rack it into a secondry leave it for a month and then bottle.
