Can I use a corny keg for secondary fermentation.

Hi guys,

I'm pretty new to this and may not use the correct terminology to get across my question but here goes:

I am on my 3rd batch of coopers pilsner and have been using wilco pressure barrels in the past which have given me no end of problems and to be honest poor carbonation. The pislner tasted amazing after about 4 weeks but just not quite as carbonated as I would like due to the poor pressure seals in the cheap barrels.

What I would like to know is can I rack from primary to a corny for a secondary. Also do I still batch prime as I did in the plastic barrels or can I just force carbonate.??

My plan is to turn up the temp in my brewfridge to about 18oC for 48 hours to allow it to do the rest thing. Then syphon into the corny kegs hit with co2 and burp the cornies then leave in brewfridge at 18oC ish to secondary ferment. I plan to use finings before racking to avoid too much sediment in the corny and having to cut the dip tube.

Have I missed anything out or does anyone have a better method.

Cheers in advance! :D

Pressure barrels will not give you the level of carbonation
required for a lager as they are only designed to hold around
15psi which is fine for beers but not enough for lager.
Have a look through this post it should answer your question.
