Late Xmas Express - with pics

Post by millemg » Sun Nov 04, 2012 8:17 pm

OK, I've realised it's not long off xmas, and I should have had a brew on the go by now, so a panic today threw this together :D

It WILL be ready for Xmas [-o<

1 x Wilkies cheapo £10 kit, with FREE 1kg brew sugar

1 x tin of black treacle

Infusion to be soaked overnight.......

3 cinnamon sticks
12 cloves
3 lime and ginger infusion bags (found in the cupboard)
10g sliced fresh ginger root
25g Magnum hops
10g of dried elderflowers I collected and froze in the summer
1 glug of peach and raspberry turbo cider :)

The infusion has been boiled in water and left in a large pan, ready to throw the lot in the brew in the morning.

I will brew this to 32 Pints

Fingers crossed for the big day :)

Update :

"Millemg's Spiced Winter Grog"

I have just put this brew on, the infusion from last night was even nicer this morning :)

I heated the pan of mush again and added to the FV

Wort tasted of Xmas :=P

Didn't bother with the prune juice.

I have brewed it to appx 30 pints (18L ish)

OG appx 1060 ... if it gets down to 1010 will be looking at 6.5%

That will do nicely =D>

PS - I might dry hop this brew after a week, probably with Chinook.
