What the hell is going on?
Right well for about 3 months I've had a milestone doner and blitzed in bottles now some taste plain tasteless I'm looking to see if its actually beer not water and others taste of apples. Yes I admit I brewed in a heat wave and had a temp running between 24-26 degrees (feck all I could do anit posh don't have a brewfridge) then bottled and threw um in cupboard and forgot about um just wondered why there all tasting different ?

That's like asking a scots man if he's gonna throw a lump of coal on a fire course I haven't bought another Fv dont see the point when others use one just fine and a fridge if I could fit one anywhere in my house I would do and afford one that is

You'll just have to do what the rest of us do, who can't afford/justify a brew box, and take yer chance with the weather.
Put a wanted add in local rag for old fridge. Might get some rich [censored] throwing out a good 'un for fook all

It's not the lack of money I live in a 2 bed Victorian terrance house so yea no where to put it, think ill buy a plastic file store as a mini bath in summer
Re: What the hell is going on?
You just got to make do with what you got, til I get a brewing fridge I do all my brewing outside of summer when the temperature is naturally low, in a spare room with the radiator turned down when it needs it.

Yea all I have is a fish tank heater and a work bench in corner of bedroom so it can be packed when I'm not brewing

A very crude poor-man's fermentation chiller: find a bucket, tub, tray of some sort which is just big enough to place your fermentation carboy into. Fill the surrounding space with water and ice. Stretch a t-shirt around the carboy, dipping down into the water. Point a small fan at the shirt. Natural wicking and evaporative action will drop the temperature several degrees, more so if you periodically replace the ice. I used to do this in the hottest parts of the summer. It's not very steady, but if you wanna keep brewing in the heat, it's better than nothing.

That's sort of what I do but without the ice and fan, seems to keep a steady 20c left in the bath no problemseymour wrote:A very crude poor-man's fermentation chiller: find a bucket, tub, tray of some sort which is just big enough to place your fermentation carboy into. That works too, but big beers can take a week or two to ferment and I was hoping sbond and/or any housemates would bathe occasionally.jaberry wrote:That's sort of what I do but without the ice and fan, seems to keep a steady 20c left in the bath no problem

I was very Jammy with my fridge, I won it on Ebay for £12.50 and collected it locally = RESULTWestyTwaalf wrote:You'll just have to do what the rest of us do, who can't afford/justify a brew box, and take yer chance with the weather.

Lol. Luckily we don't use the bathroom as we use the en-suite (def upside of no offspring)seymour wrote:That works too, but big beers can take a week or two to ferment and I was hoping sbond and/or any housemates would bathe occasionally.jaberry wrote:That's sort of what I do but without the ice and fan, seems to keep a steady 20c left in the bath no problem
