That's it finally got my brew on. Washed everything in hot water first, then sanitized with star san pitched yeast when temp was 22 degrees and then put fv in spare room temp stayed constant at 22 in the fv will this be ok or should I put heat belt on the fv
Re: First brew
No it's just the yeast which is under the green lid have heard this is a mix of lager and ale yeast not sure if that's true

Welcome to JBK

If it is the Original Series Lager, then it is just the Coopers Ale strain of yeast.
I have read that the Coopers ale yeast can be fermented as low as 16C, so 16C-20C would be better. But as this is your first brew I wouldn't worry too much, just try not to cook it with the heatbelt!
I brewed the Coopers OS Lager as my 5th ever brew in Feb 2011 and didn't even spare a thought about temperature and it turned out pretty good IIRC.
Here is a good link that explains what yeasts come with all of the different Coopers kits. It may be of use to you with future brews.

Re: First brew
Thanks very much for the info on yeast did put the heat belt on at 5pm but just turned it off as noticed the temp crept up in the fv to 24
Re: First brew
I put the heat belt on because the instructions under the lid stated brew temp between 21 and 27 but after reading some of the forums decided to take off
Re: First brew
18 degrees is fine but constant fluctuations are to be avoided.
Best to start at 18 and keep there than 20 then 18 back to 20 etc

The most important thing to do now is to start thinking of brew #2Newbrew1 wrote:Cheers lads will let you all know how it turns out beer or drain fluid

Odds are it will be drinkable, meaning it works and doesn't taste rank. As MB posted start thinking about the next one.Newbrew1 wrote:Cheers lads will let you all know how it turns out beer or drain fluid
What do you want to brew?
