Next brew sanitising question

Post by kirky80 » Mon Apr 15, 2013 7:41 am

Hi all, I have just bought all of the ingredients for my third ever brew, I have a quick question about sanitising. I used milton for my coopers english bitter and it turned out ok, I used it again for a conissuer merlot wine and it tasted like tcp, it was drinkable but the first glass is a bit disinfectanty. I have just bought quite a lot o ingredients for this next one so I really don't want to make 40 pints of bog cleaner, so... My question is has anyone else used milton, is it ok to use or would anyone recommend not using it. It is supposed to be non rinse and I used it for both of my sons bottles, maybe for the wine it was just too concentrated???

I've never used Milton,
it would be cheaper to buy Starsan or Videne,
i use the latter for my cornies, mixed 1.5ml per litre of water, it sterilises and there is no need to rinse, and you can re-use it a few times.
there is a part of the forum dedicated to sterilising viewforum.php?f=7
if you use the search function for Milton i'd say you will find all the info you need.

good luck.
