Coopers Dark Ale recipe

Post by dasbootfish » Sat Jun 21, 2014 12:23 pm

I'm about ready to brew up a Coopers Dark Ale - any recipe suggestions to get the best out of this kit - looking to create a deep, strong, hearty brew with a chocolate finish. Should I replace the standard sugar with anything?

I've made it with BKE. Nice gear.

Thanks, and for future reference - if I want to add some treacle to a brew does it just go in with everything at the start?

I'd never put treacle in my beer, because I hate the stuff and always have done.

But, yes, just like any of these gloopy fermentables, in at the start and a good drilling would be the way I'd go.

I added some treacle to my Thomas Cooper's Irish Stout (I was going to do a Ditch's, but the LHBS didn't have Cooper's Ordinary so I did something different instead).

Liked it so much it's nearly all gone and I've got another one in.
