Hop pellets.
Hop pellets.
Just chucked the supplied hop pellets into my American Amber Ale kit......they've partly dissolved forming a scum on top of the beer in the FV . Never dry hopped before...so is this normal? Do they eventually dissolve or will I have to strain the beer before I keg it in a few days?
Re: Hop pellets.
It's normal mate and no they will not dissolve I have a hop mesh bag that I place over my siphon tube or you could just strain like you saidtruemay wrote:Just chucked the supplied hop pellets into my American Amber Ale kit......they've partly dissolved forming a scum on top of the beer in the FV . Re: Hop pellets.
If you can chill the fermenter down in a fridge then they will drop to the yeast cake.

Re: Hop pellets.
Haven't got a fridge! Though I could maybe tie some sort of strainer to the end of my syphon!
Re: Hop pellets.
That will do just sanitizer it happy days try and remove the thick of it off the top I use a laydel spoon type with holes in it
Re: Hop pellets.
Cheers...I'll do that,. Might use a stocking or something similar....would it be best on the inlet or outlet end of syphon?
