Boyes Stores

Post by davew » Fri Sep 12, 2014 10:35 pm

I was heading that way today anyway but I had heard about Boyes stocking homebrew supplies. So I popped into the Bingham store near Nottingham.

I was very surprised at the range, plenty of Coopers kits and even things like hop pellets and tea bags.

A bit more expensive than Wilkos especially with their current sale, but non the less an alternative where there is a shop locally without having to incur delivery charges.

I picked up a Coopers APA and some BKE as I've read good things about it but never tried one.

It would be good if they had an online store to be able to browse their range at leisure.

What are other peoples experience of Boyes?
Fermenting: Wilkos Cider
Drinking: Wilkos Hoppy Copper (very nice)

No Boyes local to me (or a Wilkos) but I've bought kits there if we've been passing one. The prices for Milestone & Woodfordes kits have been pretty good.

I think they're actually a bit cheaper, for the Coopers kits at least. When Wilkos is selling stuff at normal price anyway. They also do loads of different yeasts and have a better range than Wilkos, at least the ones I've been in do.

Worth a punt I reckon!

That's good news, I hope all their stores are going to stock home brew supplies, not just the large ones as my nearest is Sleaford just a tiny Lincolnshire market town.
