Ok, I put my first ever kit on last Monday or Tuesday night? All going great and it was fermenting nicely etc.
My little girl was born on Thursday, but unfortunately has been very unwell, and I found myself in Addenbrookes where she's been transferred to, and where we still are. Don't wish to tempt fate, but we'll hopefully be back home soonish (not the baby, but the wife and I) - will my kit be beyond saving and kegging? It's been sat in the kitchen at around 20 degrees roughly during fermentation plus these extra couple of days.
Same question really for my wine, although I suspect I might be a little better on that one. It was due for bottling when everything kicked off, but has since sat on the side siphoned once for clearing/bottling.
First kit, not been able to sort it...
Re: First kit, not been able to sort it...
First, sorry to hear about your little girl, hope all is well soon.
Second, I'm sure the beer and wine will be fine. If I'm reading it right, you put it on last week, either 22nd or 23rd? A lot of people work on the rule of 2. 2 weeks in FV, 2 weeks in the warm and 2 weeks in the cold. Ignore what the instructions say. I've got a couple of extract brews fermenting at the mo, they will have been fermenting 2 weeks this weekend, and don't look like they are ready for bottling yet.
Patience is key to this hobby, and I was exactly the same with my first few kits, you just can't wait for it to be done and bottled so you can think about drinking it!
What kit was it?

Your brew will be fine you got other stuff to think about than your brew

Cheers guys. sounds like I should be ok then. It was a Wherry kit. According to their instructions it should be going in the keg yesterday or Monday (can't remember which day I set it off!).
Yes of course there are other things to think about, but it gets boring in here ;o) She's now past the worst of it, so the rest of life (including work this morning) have to be gotten on with...

Good to hear that things are looking better, you all have my best wishes.
Good luck with the beer too, but it should be absolutely fine.

In it's pressure keg now and the SG was about where it should be prior to siphoning. Thanks for the help guys.
Littl'un is doing really well. She's been transferred back to Colchester from Addenbrookes now, so just a case of time whilst she recuperates for herself now (just on a ventilator and that's it).
