Coopers Australian pale Ale.

Post by Redimpz » Thu Nov 20, 2014 6:29 pm

I just picked up a Coopers Aussie Pale ale kit for £6.75 in my local Boyes. I also bought a pack of Muntons BKE to go with it. I've never made this kit before and I am wondering if it would benefit from a Cascade hop tea or is it good as it is?
Any help or advice is appreciated.

It certainly welcomes a hop or hop & grain addition and it is such an adaptable kit.

Here's a link to a couple of my Cooper APA adaptions, 1 of which uses Cascade.

I also fully endorse the following:

Coopers APA
1 tin LME or 1kg DME
200g of Munich or Crystal malt simmered @ 70c for 30 minutes.
25g Apollo hops on 15 minute boil
15g of Apollo hops on flame out & steep for 20 minutes
50g Apollo hops as dry hop after 7 days.

An amazing citrusy flavour, starting out a little bitter but ending with a slightly sweet aftertaste.

Thanks, some good thoughts there. I've got a decent selection of grains, so I could well go for a mini mash with some crystal to give a malty taste followed by a cascade hop tea later into the ferment.
So far my only regret is not picking up more of these kits whilst they are at the price. £6.75, can't really go wrong.
