bottle conditioning help!
ive recently transferred my first brewing effort to a pressure barrel and all seems to be going well. so well in fact that i might start another one today. i was just wondering, im sure somebody on this forum said that it is possible to use 2L pet bottles for conditioning. i was thinking about the gas produced during secondary fermentation, will i have to leave the caps on the bottles slightly unscrewed for this gas to escape or will it be dissolved into the beer?any help appreciated cheers
I've been using a well known supermarket own brand water bottles since I started brewing and have not had any bother with them.
It'll cost you £1.70 for ten bottles, you can use the water to make up your kit, keep the bottles and put the beer back into them after primary fermentation is done. Simple but effective

here here JP
its a method I have started myself, I do a few glass bottles for friends etc then use the bottled water bottles for the rest. Mainly because it takes sooooooooooooooooooooo long so fill 40 pint bottles
only tip would be, leave them somewhere dark, as the UV will not do your beer any good!
And just remember once open you have to drink it, so you might want to consider 1.5L or 2L MAX, no more! lol
