What would you add to a stout kit?

i was thinking of 500g dark, 250g medium malt....

Try chocolate malt and crystal malt . I added 200 g of each to a seven year old boots stout kit and rather to my surprise I actually received compliments on the resultant brew . If you want an idea of the taste they add try Titanic Stout , I had a rather nice bottle recently . My local Sainsbury's sell it and whilst your there why not get a bottle of Coopers Sparking Ale although its more Stout weather than Pale Ale weather .

Hi dean_bpm,

I've currently got Brupaks Black Moor Stout on the go and have added 500g of extra dark spray malt from Hop & Grape.
Started this off last Tuesday @ OG 1.055 checked gravity again on Sunday @ 1.019. I drank the sample and was very supprised how palatable it was at this stage! :D
I will check the gravity again on Wed/Thurs and leave it till the weekend to barrell if all goes to plan.
I also plan to dry hop in the barrell with approx 20g of either Fuggles or Golding hops for a week to ten days.

Really though, it pays to have previously brewed the kit as per instructions for the expirience before attempting to add extras, that way you atleast have an idea what the kit is like and what changes could possibly be made.

i made a coopers stout with 1KG of Dark DME and 500g of Light DME and 500g of Dark Muscavado unrefined sugar turned out absolutely bl**dy gorgeous. It was called Enter the Dragon Stout, apparently very similar to the Jamaican Dragon Stout
