Wherry at Wikinsons stores

Post by brewjohn » Wed Dec 07, 2022 11:47 am

A couple of months ago I picked up a Wherry at Wilkinsons store in Preston Lancs and it was the only one on the shelf and also all the packets of gervin yeast were also missing .I was in town testerday so I called in again and found the shelves even more empty . I asked an assistant and was told its been like that now for quite a while .Whats the situation like in other branches around the country ? Hope its not a sign that they are moving away from homebrew !!

A couple of years ago in Sunderland Wilko reduced floor space and stock levels overall. I couldn't find any home brew items and assumed they had removed their entire display. However, there were some items on display on my last visit, but very much less than in the past.

mostly bare shelves in Lancaster for the last few years.
Boyes in Kendal is a much safer bet.
Brewing in the badlands between Arnside and Milnthorpe.

Slim pickings here too, virtually zero equipment and mostly Wilko if any products available.

I have been buying online for a while now for variety, supply & ease. So I guess it is my fault there is no local highstreet retailers.

Of the 20 beer kits listed on their website they only show stock for 3. The situation is almost as bad for the wine kits.
Supply problems maybe?

My local Wilko has very little in stock. They stopped stocking my two favourite kits a few years ago so I buy from them only rarely. I recently needed crown corks in a hurry but it appears they no longer sell them.
