Sterile?

Post by PMH0810 » Thu Jan 10, 2008 8:17 am

I sterilised my FV with VWE when I start the brew and, when bottling comes, have been Miltoning my 1ltr PET bottles (and rinsing thoroughly). Thanks to my one-year-old Son we always have a handy supply in...

Before I bottle I check there is no Milton Smell but I understand from threads on this forum that Milton can have a detrimental effect on beer taste.

What does everyone else use for sterile bottles?

For bottles (should I ever fancy risking my sanity by doing a bit of bottling) I'd clean and sterilise with antiformin/bleach, rinse then give them a squirt of either peracetic acid or star san before filling them.

Once again - thank you all. Reassured I'll carry on as before (until something turns nasty, anyway!)

i always use milton and never had a problem. i think its the fine line between supermarket cheap bleach and VWE on the cost side.
