Brewday
Not technically the right place for this but to show the BM in action....But here goes.....
Screwed the rest of the fittings onto the BM and programmed the thing according to the Mash Steps from BS2
This thing is a piece of piss to program :clap thubmb
Whilst I wait for the first temp, I thought I would post these pictures better go and weigh the grain
managed to photo it on the last minute change over
And then automatically changes to the 2nd phase...
Easiest Mash I`ve ever done so far still have to reach stage 5 yet though - time to make lunch
Got back from lunch phase 3 was getting up to temp.
Its now on its rest period
If you were wondering
Forgot to take the PH earlier so the sample had gone a little cold but the meter has ATC on it anyway
Goat is now cleaned, hops weighed out, sparge done, just waiting for a boil.
First lot of hops in and the thing is counting down....
I would describe the boil as a gentle roll
Thought I might as well post a final picture, the bucket with its new stand

Re: Brewday
Fascinating so you litrally tip the grain in and the pump does the rest ?

Yep tip the grain in, let the pump & element do their thing, take the grain out, boil & add hops.
So it lets you concentrate more on the recipe + you should be able in theory get identical brews back to back if required so it will let you fine tune a recipe, until you get it right to your taste / beer style.

Re: Brewday
My BM Manual doesn't say anything about programming the hops in. Also if you set a mash stage to 0 min then it simply ignores that stage?
Re: Brewday
How did you manage to programme the hop addition times?barneey wrote:sbond10 wrote:Fascinating so you litrally tip the grain in and the pump does the rest ?

Re: Brewday
Not too sure what you mean? although not shown on this thread the hop additions are just part of the standard initial programming stage?
Cheers

They must have changed the programmer because it's not on mine! I'll drop a mail to Speidel and ask them.barneey wrote:Not too sure what you mean? although not shown on this thread the hop additions are just part of the standard initial programming stage?

Re: Brewday
I just received my BM, it has the new design lid so I assume I can program hop additions, although the manual I received didn't state this, and the manual I found on the inter-web is f***king useless at explaining the hop programming.
Re: Brewday
I'm seriously considering flogging my 3V kit and getting one of these.
Without really looking, I had initially dismissed it a lazy man's toy and an expensive toy at that.
But as I learn more and more about them and see more and more using them, I'm starting to see their worth.

I have had this reply from Ralf at Speidel.barneey wrote:Not too sure what you mean? although not shown on this thread the hop additions are just part of the standard initial programming stage?

Looks like I might have to upgrade to a 200 litreHello Ian,
we made a small change. And we allow now to have three hop adding.
Unfortunately we can not upgrade the older controls, because they have a too small processor for this feature.
Best regards
Ralf

Re: Brewday
That explains the question then
Surely there must be an electronic upgrade that could be purchased and installed?

Certainly not a lazy mans toy, more a piece of equipment to enable repetitionMr. Dripping wrote:I'm seriously considering flogging my 3V kit and getting one of these.

If you can afford one they are well worth the money.

They do the upgraded programmer but they nearly £300 for it. Think I will continue with my €3 timerbarneey wrote:That explains the question then
