Maltmiller Modified Grainfather Sparge Water Heater

Post by Binkie Huckaback » Mon Aug 19, 2019 2:03 pm

Has anyone bought the above item from The Maltmiller? I'm curious as to whether if offers better control than over the non-modified version or even the plastic boiler I use now (assuming I can find the controller/simmerstat I removed from it)

I’ve got the non-modified grainfather sparge water heater and to be honest, never found fault with the temperature sensor. It’s always within a degree or so and while the temperature gauge is a little imprecise, you can soon figure it out and I usually always get the temperature I’m after. I probably wouldn’t bother with the additional Inkbird temperature controller - the additional tap is handy though, I’ll be fitting one to mine soon.
