From what I have read three things are usually the cause of wort fountains on a BM:

1 - too fine a crush
2 - a very light grain bill
3 - too much pump power

2 and 3 can also be fixed with the new variable speed pump (lowering the power) a well as the more obvious solutions.

When i experienced wort fountains on my BM20 it was when mashing with low grain bills....4.25kg and below.....after maybe three occurrences I started adding 300-400g of rice hulls to my mash and never experienced the problem again.

I think I will add some rice hulls to the next brew ,I have a suspicion the fine crush is the culprit here.

I don't think they're is one answer. It's about getting a balance. I do a 3kg speckled hen recipe. Never used rice hulls (or similar).

Not disagreeing, for ease I prefer an engineering solution. This one also comes with a free "bac disc" 😁😁😁
