it may have been mentioned in previous posts but i use wine sweetener in t- cider, very small amounts at a time, and no after taste.

You should try steeping some crystal malt and adding that to your cider along with some hops............very nice drop

I use 500g of medium crystal and you can either steep it overnight in room temperature water or you could do it in 70C water for 30 minutes. Don't forget to crush the grains first
and also give the resulting liquid a short boil to kill any nasties

Will give that a try though might split the brew and do half
Have dumped 20 litrs on top of a lager yeast cake and its bubbling nicely now
