TC troubles

Put a batch of TC on 7 days ago, usual formula that seems to work for me. Juice, tea, nutrient, kilo of sugar :wink: big pre-prepared starter. It went of like a rocket, still has a 3" head on it but the gravity is still way, high by this time I would normally have expected it to be close to finished, last batched bottomed out at 1002 in 7 days.

Started at 1058, 7 days later, still at 1037. Any thoughts, like I say same process as usual, brew cupboard will be a bit warmer than usual but not much, I have checked my hydrometer and all seems fine. Any thoughts?

Same yeast you always use?
Give it a stir?
Did you accidentally ut 2kg of sugar in?
Dunno really, maybe it doesnt like the weather (high atmos pressure)

What size was the brew ? 1.058 doesn't sound right to me with a kg of sugar , i do 20l at a time to fit in me corny's and i only use 500g and my og's are like 1.060 , that comes out at a good 6.5%. Whatever you've made will knock your head off lol. :D

Sugar 1kg in 20l is 50g per litre so 20 gravity points.

So sg should have been 1070. Colder temp plus longer lag time for the yeast to reproduce enough to attack such a high grav. Sounds perfectly normal.

Apple juice is Nutrient poor. High grav TC's without nutrient support can chug along for 2+ Weeks sometimes. Best get yourself a pot of Nutrient for the next brew :)
