Gervin English Ale Yeast?

Post by Uncle Joshua » Sat Mar 28, 2020 6:06 pm

Can I use Gervin English ale yeast in cider? It's the only yeast I can get hold of.

Yep, it'll be fine. Not first choice perhaps, but it'll be fine.

Ale yeast can actually be a good option. If your cider is drier than you would like, then ale yeast may be the solution as it tends not to attenuate as well.

Bread yeast works well in cider... But good point above. Different Yeasts do different things.

Cider back sweetens nice with artificial sweetener (splenda) . Add to taste.

You'll be fine. I've never used an official cider yeast; the last cider I did was with S-189 at lager temperature.
I'm just here for the beer.
