Lidl blossom honey

Post by lord.president » Mon May 26, 2014 12:09 am

Just made my first mead- JAOM. Lidl have clear blossom honey 1.99 for 500g. And indeterminbale clear honey 454g for 1.45-seems cheap for honey to me.

Lidl is cheap for anything, though.
I've used their honey, but only in a melomel, where the fruit masks any deficiency in the honey base.

Made some good meads with Lidl honey, but mostly spiced meads and melomels as I prefer those.

OB's spot on there......

IMO you only need to get precious about the honey if making traditionals - those are all about the honey flavour...

Mels, less so. Meth depends on how strong you want the spice flavour and cyser/pyment depend more on the apple/grape juice......
