You can't go wrong with SiHoltye's Briar's Best recipe. Mega simple and quafftastic:

BRIARS BEST

30 litres OG 1.052 ABV 5.1% 27 units of bitterness

MARIS OTTER PALE MALT 5370 gms
CRYSTAL MALT 630 gms

HOPS Boil time 90 minutes
CHALLENGER 50 gms

25 gms of challenger added in the last 15 minutes

Safale S-04
BREWERY UNDER CONSTRUCTION

A few forum members have brewed my house bitter with good results, this is a 23 litre brew.

Pale Malt 3980g
Crystal Malt 266g
Torrified Wheat 178g
Goldings Hops 36 Bittering units, added at start of the boil.
Goldings Hops 20g, added at the last 15 minutes of the boil.
Goldings Hops 8g, added at the end of the boil, soak for 30 mins.
Estimated OG 1044
