Post by DC » Sun May 24, 2009 5:20 pm

Hi all, after completing my 1st AG brew today viewtopic.php?f=24&t=23646 I am already planning AG#2  I am thinking of doing a simple one malt & one hop receipe and was wondering if anyone can suggest a suit able receipe? I am hoping to aquire the malt & hops from my local brewery http://www.wylambrewery.co.uk/ and just need a receipe before calling in and buying my malt & hops ! Not really bothered what type of beer receipe it is :D just want a cheap & cheerfull one !

Cheers DC

What about Wylam (Summer) Magic.
4kg pale malt, 40g Amarillo hops and some of their yeast. 23 litres should get you about 4.5 ABV

15 litres in with the malt for hour and a quarter. Another 15 litres in for the sparge, boil with the hops for hour and a half, cool, yeast. job done. :D

The Styrian Stunner recipe (cannot find the link for it but somewhere on here) is, if you'll excuse the pun, stunning, one of my favourites and definitely SWMBO's favourite.

I made a pale ale a while ago using golden promise pale malt & first gold hops, it turned out great.

Single hop single malt beers are a great way to start AG brewing as they give you simple beers, but also train your palate in hop flavours and also when you start adding other malts you are aware of the flavours that they add.

Good single hop and malt beers that are highly recommended:
100% Satisfaction also known as Carolines(sp?) ale
Styrian Stunner
Townes IPA

Also search Norms recipe thread as there are some cracking recipes in there.
