Hi all,
I'm building up the kit for our first brew and looking to go the brew shop this friday lunch to stock up. I'd been compiling a recipe myself, aiming to replicate a sort of Hooky Gold style beer. But as it's our first attempt I'm thinking that I'd be better off using a tried and tested.
So I'm looking for something that's a pale malt/wheat malt brew along the lines of Hooky Gold, Titanic Iceberg, just on the off chance we get a few warm days before autumn (we can but hope). I know the Hooky Gold has Goldings, Fuggles and Willamette but I'm looking to work with more limited range of ingredients to keep costs down.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Forgot to say I was going to go for US05 based on what I'd been reading on here. Cheers Rick. Hopback is lovely, but yours looks liek the sort of recipe I was thinking.

Re: 1st AG Recipe Suggestions
Sod it, this is the recipe I worked out weeks ago for a 23l brew. Tried the GW beer engine today and it just confused me more.
Hooky Gold attempt.
OG:1042
FG:1010
36IBU
Pale Malt: 3.42kg
Wheat Malt: 0.65kg
Goldings - 54g @ 90mins
Fuggles - 20g @ 15mins
Willamette - 12g post boil
Using US05.
Thoughts anyone? Was aiming for 4.2% ABV but my calcs assumed 80% efficiency. Not sure I'm likely to get though on the 1st go. I think I also worked on 36IBU.
I'm thinking of maybe just drop the Willamette and chuck some more Fuggles in.

For your first mate, I'd just grab a recipe of your fav ale and go for it... GW's book is a goodun to start with
Re: 1st AG Recipe Suggestions
Cheers Chris. In the end I decided to stick with GW's Summer Lightning recipe. Got the ingredients today. Now I just need to build the kit.
