Following Les Howarth's chat on http://www.basicbrewing.com/index.php?page=radio this morning it reminded of this old favourite of mine......So I thought I would try to knock up and approximation brew :? Any thoughts?

Pale Malt 5 EBC 10650 g 91.50%
Crystal Malt 130 EBC 400 g 3.40%
Chocolate Malt 1050 EBC 180 g 1.50%
Wheat Malt 3.5 EBC 410 g 3.50%

Styrian Goldings 90 mins 80 grams 35.60%
Styrian Goldings 50 mins 45 grams 20%
Willamette 30 mins STEEP AT 80C 100 grams 44.40%

Final Volume: 50L
Original Gravity: 1.052
Final Gravity: 1.013
Alcohol Content: 5.10%
Total Liquor: 69.6
Mash Liquor: 29.1
Mash Efficiency: 75
EBU 27
EBC 44

Final Volume: 50 Litres
Original Gravity: 1.052
Final Gravity: 1.013
Alcohol Content: 5.1% ABV
Total Liquor: 69.6 Litres
Mash Liquor: 29.1 Litres
Mash Efficiency: 75 %
Bitterness: 26.1861520339524 EBU

It looks good to me apart from the proportion of crystal malt which I'd suggest you increase somewhat (or a lot, if you dare). My recent attempts at this brew are up at ~20% crystal malt.

Crikey Les that's a lot of crystal :shock: Still I'll give it a try......I have gone to 15% crystal in the past with another beer. What about the chocolate - does 1.5% look like enough?

The amount of chocolate malt looks good. I'd guess it as being from 1 to 1.5%.
