Morrisey Fox

Post by pas8280 » Sat Feb 27, 2010 6:40 pm

I have just been stood in my local Tesco staring at the bottle beer section and the two Morrisey / Fox brews caught my eye (mainley because they were next to the punk IPA) anyway i picked up a bottle of the blonde just to see if it gave a clue on the grains or hops yep you guessed nothing, no clues or hints so next i thought go on get one see what it tastes like.
Just about to put it in the basket then saw the price just under two quid  Now call me tight but i didnt want to taste it that much !!!!!
Anyway thought i would post and see if anyone had any idea of whats in it or if they have the recipe, i could make my own for a tenth of that.

Hmmm. Methinks you may be about to be educated as to the general consensus on this forum regarding the MoFo idiots...

Here's the thread that grew to 13 pages during the Mofo fiasco.

It started off quite upbeat, but that didn't last long!

fwiw I thought the blonde ale was an OK pint. Not amazing but not bad.

The TV series was what inspired me to get back into brewing after a long break but even though I should be grateful to them I still thought they were a pair of <censored>.
Oh, and that series was my first ever glimpse of a corny keg!

one of my LHBS's advised them on the whole thing from recipe, to equipment to technique (and she still wants that corny back they 'borrowed').

personally found the blonde more like a warmed up rank lager, but they are responsible for getting many folk into/back into brewing, so in some respects they have something going for them.

Regardless of the founders' popularity or otherwise, I think the "Brunette" is a nice pint.

That was only the pub/restaurant was't it? The beer is still being brewed under licence and sold through supermarkets isn't it?

Looks like the pub has been rescued from the clutches of Gastronomy. Although their prices for food still look a bit high.
