Hi Guys,
I'm hoping to brew up a nice strong stout at the end of the month to be well conditioned to drink for Xmas (thinking ahead I know!). Looking to do something in the region of 1.070 - 1.080. Anybody got any good tried and tested recipes?
Much appreciated!
Graeme
Strong Stout/Export stout request
Re: Odp: Strong Stout/Export stout request
You'd find aplenty at http://barclayperkins.blogspot.com. Very accurate, historically correct recipes. I recently brewed Truman Export Stout and it came out great after 2 months in bottles.

Cheers for that mate! Think I came across his blog before, some great stuff on there! Re the Truman, did you actually boil for 3 hours?! That is a lengthly boil time, I loose around 5 liters an hour on my current boiler!zgoda wrote:You'd find aplenty at http://barclayperkins.blogspot.com. Very accurate, historically correct recipes. Brewed this one -> http://barclayperkins.blogspot.com/2010 ... xport.html
Mash for 90 mins @68-69c, boil for 120 mins. Collected 28 litres from sparge, boiled down to 22 litres cold wort, 20.5 litres in fv, 20 litres into bottles. Yeast was Wyeast British Ale II, very similar to Nottingham, flavour-wise.
Here is handy listing of all recipes from Ron's blog -> http://www.unholymess.com/blog/lets-brew. Great deal of ideas.
