single hop recipe

Post by whitstella » Wed Jun 25, 2014 7:00 pm

hi

ive got the chance to buy 1 or maybe 2 1kg's of whole hops, I could do with a right good recipe using 1 or 2 hops different hops. I can do more grains just I don't want to be cheeky and order lots of hops, and I can not store it properly. I like any good ale.

any advice would be great thanks.

What are the hops?

Do you not have the freezer or fridge space?
Do you have a vac packer?

Simcoe and amarillo for American pale and ipa.
Before I got a vacuum sealer I bought a bunch of amarillo and devided it into two ounce packs. First I put them into a sandwich baggie, then wrapped that in tin foil, and lastly into a zip-lock freezer bag; squeezed out as much air as I could and froze them. I used the last of them over five years later.
I'm just here for the beer.

And I bet they were still fine to use :)

I often bulk buy 5kg of hops, and divide up and freeze.
It's a cheaper way or brewing, even better when simply hops have a sale & free postage day

I'm cheap enough to use some things not fine, but NEVER hops.
