Out for a couple of pre-dinner beers this evening, and I stumbled upon Titanic Plum Porter in a Castle Rock Brewery pub in Loughborough. It was absolutely delicious! A complex, sweet smelling brew, but with perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness in the taste. The lable showed a drawing of plums, but does this beer really have any plums in it? It could simply refer to the deep plum purple colour of the drink?
Does anyone have a recipe for this amazing ale?

Re: Titanic Plum Porter recipe
I've been trying to find recipe hints on this for a while without luck. I seem to recall reading they use a flavouring rather than real plums (though the Titanic website states "late addition of Goldings hops and natural plum flavouring").

Thinking about this, it's a nice, jammy, sweet flavour, and nothing like a lambic disaster that might result from slinging in a guesstimate of raw plums. Plum jam might well be an addition for the home brewer here, and if you were a commercial brewer, thus would be a good shout as it will raise the O.G. a bit and keep grain requirements down. Just need to wait until next year now to source a load of free plums!

My local micro had a cask of this on the other month, bloody nice beer, even went back the next evening with a 4 pint takeaway bottle.
Plum concentrate of some sort would be the easiest to use, I was looking into a recipe myself but got somewhat side tracked.

The US have Brewers Best Natural Plum Flavoring (no 'U').

Postage would be a bit steep to get a plum flavouring - still thinking jam is the best option currently...
