I did another bitter this morning in my series of smash beers to try out some hops I've never used before.
Three gallons: 4.5 lbs Crisp #19 floor malted maris otter and 1 oz minstrel hops.

Smash bitter
I'm just here for the beer.
Re: Smash bitter
Never tried Minstrel hops either. How did you use them? All in at once or some early, some late?
What other hops have you tried in this series?
My weirdest result was in a similar experiment when I used Godiva hops. The beer came out tasting like mushy peas; not unpleasant, but unexpected.

I'm cheap. Just give me beer.

I did a 20 minute boil with 1 oz in 3 gallons for 27 IBUs.

Re: Smash bitter
I did a "Two Archers Bitter" with Plumage Archer and Archer hops.
It was OK, but nothing Special. I'll keep the rest of the Archer for bittering.
Haven't used Pilgrim for years and I remember they were very nice. I think they become unavailable for a while.

Definitely post a pic of your pint once it's ready!
