Wychwood's White Wych

Thought I would do a quick update on this one.

I finally got round to a first attempt at a White Wych clone about 6 weeks ago. I've just cracked open the first cornie and it is pretty good. Nicely clear, great colour and quite close to the commercial one. I reckon it needs another few weeks to round off the hop flavours but it is already very light and drinkable and I'm very pleased. Not sure I know how to improve on the recipe so I will probably brew it again as is. And most important of all, it has gained the offical approval of my better half. Result!

Recipe (46 litres):

Grain
7.5 kg MO
0.5 kg Wheat Malt

Hops
60g Northdown 7.5% AA 90 mins
10g EKG 5.8% AA 10 mins
15g EKG 5.8% AA 0 mins
33 IBU

Yeast
S04

Looks like a nice simple recipe, I might give it a try this spring for a nice summer ale.

Most of the beers I brew are simple recipes - less is more when it comes to Boingy's beer.
Defo a good summer beer. Mine came out at about 3.9% so not super-strength and not a hop monster.

From memory so could be complete rubbish. Doesn't it say "thrice hopped with Styrian Goldings" on the neck label of the bottles???

Apologies really not necessary, m8. I'm always getting beers mixed up and the modern trend seems to be for breweries to have loads of different beers and lots of seasonal specials. Too many beers and not enough time.

I'm planning some light coloured ales for this summer. I've a few AGs under my belt now, I find that I love the simple hoppy gold ales much more than the standard bitters so this will be straight on the list, thanks. Also on the list will be my current fave and definitely most successful so far, Exmoor Gold. I reckon if I can do 40 pints every week for a month or two I'll last the summer (when being in the tourist trade I don't get a day off to brew).

I would love a recipe for Archers Golden but cannot find one anywhere, its a top ale!

Any other Golden/summer ales you recommend?
What would be the best dried yeast for these ales? I have been using SO5 but also have some windsor and notts, oh and some munich so I'm thinking a wheat beer too.
White Wych though, can't wait for the first bottle!

With the confusion of Aldi/Lidl (originally each chain owned by one of two German brothers), both are equally good when it comes to getting good beer deals. Quite often get some Shepard Neame bottles for a £1 or Brakspear too.
