its not the same stuff the english one is 4.6 % the greek one is 5% , i bought a couple of bottles back from zante and did a blind tasting and theres no contest typical interbrew "lets use the name of a decent lager an stick any old crap in" not good
i really like mythos.
I thought the stuff you could buy in the UK is imported?
I wasn't aware that it was brewed under licence elsewhere...
As for the differnce in ABV, not sure about that... The Greek Mythos site says 4.6%.... (?)
Share your source of information please, so we can make this thread as accurate as possible

Hi!
Its quite possible (but unlikey) that they export a different strength to other parts of the EU...
I have to admit I seem to recall the beer I bought in Greece being 5% but research on the Mythos site (and that of Carlsberg who now own the brewery & brand) states 4.6 & 4.7% (seems to contradict itself!)
Also its not likely to be a differnece in the ABV and ABW as I'm sure Greece is required to print ABV figured on bottles of beer (like the rest of Europe).
I still think that the recipe will get you close - providing the yeast is allowed to do its job and a good lagering period is followed...
Let us know how it turns out

yes I can confirm that mythos as sold here vin corfu states 5 % on the bottles and also you are right re ownership carlsberg
fix dark is quite nice a sort of smokey flavoured dark 5 % abv
in my opinion royal ionian ,corfu is the best but I guess only available in corfu incedently I still keep my real ale at 12-14 degrees as this brings out the flavours better you just need to drink it before it warms up too much,I have even got my greek nieghbour drinking it instead of lager

I've read there's a nice Mythos Red as well, but it's no longer available in the US. They're never extremely complex or anything, but a cold red macro lager on a hot day is delicious.

I realise this thread is a couple of years old. I would like to confirm that Mythos in Greece (or at least in Crete) is 5%. Mythos in supermarkets in the UK is 4.7% or 4.3%. The 4.3% bottles are 330ml and the 4.7% are 500ml. Macro usually have both. The 4.7% is much nicer than the 4.3%, but neither are as nice as the 5% real stuff. I brought some back from Crete and in blind tests picked the 5% stuff correctly 3 times
I will happily post a pic with the 4.7% and 5.0% bottles side by side if anyone would like confirmation
If anyone has any ideas where the 5% real Greek stuff can be bought in the UK I'd be very interested.

Not sure but if you live in a city with a Greek expat community the local off licence/shops would be a good place to start...
@ OP did you ever brew it? if so how did it turn out?
Cheers!
