The last time this was discussed I suggested that the mystery yeast was one that Martin Dickie brought from Thornbridge, who got it from Kelham Island. Still don't know what strain it is though.

Has anyone had any success at getting close to it? I'd appreciate any thoughts.
Punk IPA clone

(1) Geordie Lager Kit (its foul already, so can only be made worse)
500mls Gravy Browning - Preferably non-brand to add strange, unnatural orange colour
1.5Kgs Happy Shopper "Orchid Bloom" Pot Pourri
20l Tesco's Value Orangeade (more colour, dilution, fizz)

Method

Prepare Geordie Lager kit as directed, draw off one litre and boil with gravy browning and Pot pourri for 4-6 hours. Cool, strain (or hey, dont bother) and add to the fermentation vessel. Dilute with "NAS" value orangeade to 20 litres. Pitch yeast. Ferment @ 35-38 degrees to maximise off flavours and dodgy fusels (they all add to the character)

Forget about FV for 6 weeks, then bottle, condition for a month and then pour straight down the drain or serve to your worst enemy.

:D
Primary 1: Nonthing
Primary 2 : Nothing
Primary 3 : None
Secondary 1 : Empty
Secondary 1 : None
DJ(1) : Nowt
DJ(2) : N'otin....
In the Keg : Nada
Conditioning : Nowt
In the bottle : Cinnamonator TC, Apple Boost Cider, Apple & Strawberry Cider
Planning : AG #5 - Galaxy Pale (re-brew) / #6 - Alco-Brau (Special Brew Clone) / #7 Something belgian...
Projects : Mini-brew (12l brew length kit) nearly ready :D

As you can tell, I really wasn't impressed by it...and the hype around it just made the drop 50 times worse.
